Fix A Leak Week in Missouri
03/22/2014

(AP) - Missouri utility regulators are urging people to check their homes for possible water leaks.

The Missouri Public Service Commission is asking residents to observe national "Fix-A-Leak Week," which is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The commission estimates about 10 percent of homes have leaks that can waste 90 gallons of water per day.

Residents can check for leaks by putting a few drops of food coloring into a toilet tank to see if color appears in the bowl before a flush.

Fix-A-Leak Week concludes on Sunday.
