Nemaha NRD Still Seeking Board Member
04/02/2014

(KTNC) -- The Nemaha Natural Resources District is looking to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors, through the end of this year.

The opening was created with the resignation of Ted Godemann from his position in Sub-district 10, which lies within the city limits of Falls City.

Applicants for the position must be registered voters, reside within the Sub-district 10 boundaries, and meet other requirements for holding elective office.

NRD Board members are normally elected to four-year terms during primary or general elections in even numbered years. Since the vacancy in sub-district 10 occurred during the first 19 months of the term, state law dictates that the vacancy must be filled by appointment through the end of the calendar year.

The person appointed to fill the position could be appointed to serve through 2016, since no one filed to run for the remaining two years of the term in the 2014 election.

Individuals interested in filling the position in Sub-district 10 should send a letter requesting appointment to the Nemaha NRD Board of Directors, 62161 Highway 136, Tecumseh, Nebraska 68450. The NRD Board will meet next on April 10 and letters received by that date would be considered for appointment at the meeting that night.

There are 21 members serving on the Nemaha NRD Board. Two directors represent 10 Sub-districts and there is one at-large member. Bruce Walker is the other Sub-district 10 director.
