(MSC News)--Local Kansas counties are included in a nationwide ranking of health-related statistics conducted annually by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
According to the website where the results of the County Health Rankings and Roadmaps are published, the study takes into account a number of statistics when ranking the counties best to worst when it comes to matters of health.
Smoking, unemployment, obesity, air and water quality, income and education level are all included in compiling the scores.
In Kansas, 98 counties were ranked, with Pottawatomie ranking 3rd statewide, and making it the highest ranked in the local region. Nemaha was 16th, Jefferson ranked 29th, Doniphan was 30th, Leavenworth was 32nd, Marshall was 37th, Atchison was 59th, Jackson was 67th and Brown was ranked 76th.
