(KMZA)--Centralia Schools will be getting new handicapped accessible playground equipment.
The Nemaha County Commission on Monday approved the appropriation of 35-hundred dollars from the Broxterman Estate funds to help with the purchase of the equipment. The Centralia schools had requested just over 77-hundred dollars.
Principal John Whetzel says the cost for the specialized equipment was above what they had been able to raise over the past 1 ½ years. He said their playground is in need of some updating, and they have some students that need the handicapped accessible equipment.
Whetzel says they hope to install the new equipment before the end of the current school year, and if not, before the beginning of next school year.
