(KAIR)--A stretch of Kansas Highway 7 will now bear the name of fallen Atchison Police Officer David Enzbrenner.
Governor Sam Brownback signed a bill Friday that would authorize the stretch of highway between Atchison and Troy to be renamed the Sergeant David Enzbrenner Memorial Highway. The bill was approved by the State Senate earlier this month after passing through the House a few weeks before.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says funds have already been raised to not only provide the Kansas Department of Transportation with the money needed to install the signs for the highway, but also with the money needed to fund them for years to come.
Enzbrenner's family will be in attendance for a ceremonial signing of the bill, planned for April 30th.
