(KLZA) -- According to a new release from the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office, a rural DuBois was hospitalized Tuesday evening due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
38-year-old Matthew Clark was transported to Community Medical Center in Falls City by the Humboldt Rescue Squad and later transported by helicopter to a Lincoln hospital. The bullet from a .22 caliber rifle entered Clark’s upper left chest and exited through his back according to the Sheriff’s Office report.
The 911 call was received at approximately 7 p-m. It took time for rescuers to locate Clark and transport him. He was found in a wooded ravine about a third of a mile from his residence.
Richardson County Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon, who is a paramedic assisted at the scene. The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department and Richardson County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the rescue effort.
