(KAIR)--A burn ban has been issued for all of Atchison County, effective immediately.
County officials issued the ban just before 8:00 Wednesday morning in response to a Red Flag Warning that had been issued by the National Weather Service.
A Red Flag warning is issued when weather conditions provide and ideal environment for a fire going out of control. Low humidity in Atchison County, combined with winds expected to gust up to 40 miles per hour has necessitated the warning.
The ban will be in effect until further notice.
