Humboldt to Seek Housing Rehab Grant
04/17/2014

(KTNC) -  The City of Humboldt will apply for funds to rehab homes in town. The City Council approved a resolution Tuesday night authorizing Mayor Mike Riley to sign an application for funds from the Nebraska Affordable Housing Program.
If the application were approved, homeowners would be able to apply for funds to make repairs to their homes. The rehabilitation is meant to rehabilitate sub-standard, single-family, owner-occupied homes.
On a related note, the Humboldt City Council voted to rescind a nuisance order at 917 2nd Street, as that property has been cleaned up. A motion to rescind a nuisance order at 114 Central Avenue was not approved.
In other business, the council hired Joel Svoboda to be the assistant pool manager, and Stacy Fankhouser to be a back-up assistant pool manager.
The council also agreed to a request from Fire Chief Rex Kappel to put money from the sale of an old fire truck towards making repairs at the Fire Hall. Kappel said the Rural Fire Department had also agreed to put their share of the money from the sale of the truck towards the repairs.
