(KLZA) -- The City of Humboldt is now taking Pre-Applications to identify interest in a potential Demolition and Site Clearance program. The City of Humboldt is collecting information about potential demolition pre-applicants to provide a tally to submit with the owner occupied rehab application the City of Humboldt is preparing. There is no guaranty that funds will be available to the City of Humboldt.
As currently proposed, this program will pay up to 80% of the total cost of demolition and site clearance of up to six vacant, blighted/dilapidated residential properties located within the Humboldt City Limits. The property owner will be required to contribute 10% of the cost of demolition.
The City of Humboldt is also scheduled to contribute 10% of the cost of the demolition. The City hopes to accomplish clearance of 6+ properties with the $87,600 in Grant Funds and via the $21,900 in owner and City Match for a total impact of $109,500. If funded, ranking & selection from the list of final applicants will be made using a point/score system associated with a structural condition survey and related factors.
For a property to be eligible for demolition and site clearance, all owners of record must agree to the demolition. The property will remain in the name of the owner/applicant

Initial Deadline for submittal of this Demo Pre-App to the City of Humboldt is Thursday, April 24, by 3PM at the City Clerk’s office in Humboldt. The City will also continue to take applications into May and June as they await notice of funding.
