(KAIR)--An Atchison teen, accused of sex crimes involving a five year old child, pleads guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.
16-year-old Anthony Jones entered the plea in an Atchison County courtroom Friday morning. Sentencing is scheduled for May 22nd.
Jones allegedly committed the acts with the child between February 13th and 17th. He was arrested shortly after when the child's mother brought the incident to the attention of the Atchison County Sheriff's Department.
The sexual exploitation charge stems from the allegation that Jones sent sexually explicit images to a third party via an electronic device.
Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckleman says Jones could be placed in extended juvenile jurisdiction for several years after he turns eighteen, meaning he would likely be remanded to a youth center until he turns 23. After his release, Jones would enter into post release adult supervision for several years. He would also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
