(KNZA)--The search for suspects is underway, following a rash of vehicle burglaries, along with the theft of two vehicles, in Horton Monday night.
Police Chief John Calhoon says the stolen vehicles had been left unlocked with the keys inside.
The crimes all took place within a 6 to 8 block area in central Horton.
Calhoon says the two stolen vehicles were recovered, abandoned undamaged just blocks away from where they had been taken. In both cases, the license plates and keys were removed by the thieves.
Calhoon is asking for help from the public, saying that anyone who encounters someone with random license plates should notify authorities. He also asks residents to be extra alert at night, and to be aware of barking dogs, or other suspicious activity.
