(KMZA)--The Seneca Planning Commission Wednesday evening tabled action on a rezoning request for property owned by Fairview Corn LLC so neighbors concerns can be addressed.
The commission voted to appoint a committee to meet with representatives of the company to resolve concerns about dust, noise and truck traffic at the J-Six Enterprises corn milling facility.
A group of neighbors again voiced their concerns during a hearing on the proposed zoning change.
Fairview Corn LLC, a subsidiary of J-Six, is requesting that the property be rezoned from a commercial to industrial district.
The planning commission tabled the request until their next meeting, which will be set soon.
The commission did approve a re-plat of the property located on 7th and Bailtimore Streets.
In other business, the commission tabled discussion on the reconsideration of a proposed change in zoning regulations that would allow garages as primary structures on property zoned R-1 single-family residential as a conditional use.
The issue was sent back to the planning commission after an April 16th vote by the city council didn’t receive enough votes to either approve or disapprove the proposed change. It drew a split vote when considered by the council, with Mayor Joe Mitchell then voting no. A two-thirds vote is necessary to override a recommendation.
