(KNZA)--The Prairie Hills USD 113 board of education during a special meeting Wednesday evening accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Bill Orth, effective May 1st.
The action followed an executive session, and came on a 6-0 vote. Board member Julia Alfers wasn’t present at the meeting. No reason was given for the resignation.
The board appointed Orth as coordinator of transition services. It wasn't immedidately clarified what those responsibilities will involve.
The board voted to appoint Assistant Superintendent Dr. Volora Hanzlicek as interim superintendent.
Orth had served as superintendent since July 2012.
In other business, the board accepted the low bids from Kansas City Audio Visual for the purchase of 780 Apple Ipads, 780 cases and 14 audio/visual carts for a total of $498,312.
