(KAIR)--A burglary at an Atchison restaurant may be connected to two previous burglaries in the area.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says the latest burglary took place Sunday night just after 10:30 at Maria's Mexican Restaurant, located in the 800 block of Commercial. An unknown suspect or suspects entered the former tire shop adjacent to the restaurant and made several attempts to enter Maria's before making a forced entry through a door. Once inside, they removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the building and left the scene.
Wilson says police believe this burglary is connected to the one that took place earlier that evening at Strong's Body Shop, located across the Street from Maria's, as well as to the burglary from the Atchison Library last week. Nothing was taken from Strong's, but a small amount of cash was taken from the library.
Police do not yet have any clues as to who may be involved in these three burglaries, but the search for leads continues.
