Richardson Co Commission Open Bids on Dustless Highway Resurfacing

(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners received only one bid for an asphaltic concrete overlay on the Dustless Highway, east of Falls City and North of  Highway 159 when they opened bids this week. Constructors Inc. of Lincoln submitted a bid of $519,697.  The bid will be reviewed before action is taken. 

Correspondence from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services regarding their evaluation of the effectiveness of their department determining County General Assistance eligibility was reviewed.  The agency also noted they are considering the possibility of ending their service to counties. Currently the services is provided in 39 Nebraska counties.  

A quarterly Safety Committee Meeting was conducted.  Improvements in radio reception was noted by Sheriff Houser.  Road Department employees recently took a CPR class and will be attending a safety meeting on storm spotting and rescue procedures. 

Commissioners authorized County Attorney Doug Merz to proceed with three tax foreclosures.

Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon was appointed as the Richardson County representative to the FirstNet Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network.
