(KMZA)--Monday was the last day of classes at the B & B Junior-Senior High School as the Nemaha County school permanently closed its doors.
The USD 115 Board of Education last spring decided to close the school in Baileyville at the end of the 2013-2014 school year due to low enrollment and as a cost cutting measure.
Most of B & B’s students will attend school next fall at Nemaha Central schools in Seneca, about 7 miles east of Baileyville. A few students have decided to attend schools in Axtell or Centralia, which will be closer to their homes.
This year, 78 students were enrolled in 6th through 12th grades at B&B, and 23 of those students graduated on Sunday.
Highland Community College has purchased the school building for use as its Western Technical Center—a satellite campus that will offer classes beginning June 1st.
