(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners this week approved renewing the County’s health insurance plan for county employees with the Nebraska Association of County Officials group of Blue Cross / Blue Shield with a premium increase of 5 percent effective July 1.
The Board also met with Steve Darveau Jr., President of the Road and Bridge Department and Mike Steadman of the Nebraska Association of Public Employees to review an item in the current union contract regarding health insurance. Commissioners also approved the addition of a member representing the Road and Bridge Department Union to serve on the insurance committee. The representative to be selected by the Union.
Commissioners reviewed the Preston Road project with Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert. The speed limit to be set on the road was discussed but no action taken. The bid for the asphaltic concrete overlay for three miles on 656 Avenue between 706 Road and 709 Road received earlier this month was reviewed. Commissioners voted to award the bid to Constructor’s Inc. of Lincoln and authorized Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert to negotiate with the contractor the costs of mobilization.
Blue Valley Behavioral Health Executive Director John Day met with the Board to provide the annual update on the substance abuse services program in Richardson County.
A request from Robert Taft, regarding the use of county road right-of-way for a saltwater disposal line to be bored across 710 Road and 651 Avenue was discussed. More information will be requested from Taft before action is taken.
Commissioners also met with County Attorney Doug Merz to review county legal business. The County declined an offer from Wells Fargo to donate a parcel of real estate to Richardson County.
