(KNZA)--A Mayetta woman was arrested Sunday morning after leading authorities on a chase through parts of two counties.
Shortly after 8:30, Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says 52-year-old Patricia Peay alleged passed a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy’s patrol vehicle at a high rate of speed on U.S. 75 Highway near 150th Road. Morse says the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but Peay allegedly failed to yield and continued southbound into Shawnee County.
A Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper deployed stop sticks at N.W. 35th and U.S. 75, just north of Topeka. The vehicle came to a stop at the Soldier Creek Bridge on Highway 75.
Morse says Peay was placed under arrest and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of felony fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, transporting an open container, driving under the influence and a number of traffic infractions. Bond is pending at this time.
