(AP/MSC News)--Tea party candidate Dr. Milton Wolf has rejected Kansas Senator Dennis Pyle's suggestion to hold a poll to decide which one of them challenges U.S. Senator Pat Roberts in the Republican primary.
Wolf’s campaign, speaking on behalf of the Leawood radiologist, said Wednesday that Pyle should listen to conservatives who are backing Wolf.
According to the Associated Press, several tea party leaders sent Pyle emails urging him to stay out of the race.
Pyle, of rural Hiawatha, last week announced that he's formed an exploratory committee in order to decide whether or not he should challenge Roberts, who he says has been in Washington far too long and isn't conservative enough.
Pyle proposed that he and Wolf finance a poll or approach news organizations about a poll of likely voters in the August 5th Republican primary.
Roberts is seeking his fourth, six-year term, and Wolf has already filed to run against him for the GOP nomination.
The candidate filing deadline is noon Monday.
