(KNZA)--A member of the Sabetha FFA Chapter has been recognized for having one of the best career development programs in the state at the 86th Kansas FFA Convention.
Sarah Plum received a State FFA Proficiency Award in Nursery Operations during the convention Thursday for outstanding accomplishments she has made in developing programs that will prepare her for a career in agriculture. The award is sponsored by Turner Flowers.
The proficiency award program recognizes students for exceptional accomplishments and excellence in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program. This program allows students to set goals and gain real-world experience in a chosen area of the agriculture industry.
Sarah works for Rolling Hills Nursery, a family-owned greenhouse, nursery and landscape business. She grows annuals and vegetables as well as shrubbery and trees. Sarah’s favorite part of working in the Nursery is building relationships with customers. Her responsibility has increased over the years as she now manages other employees at the nursery, and feels personally responsible for the quality of the product grown.
Upon graduation Sarah plans to attend Kansas State University to earn a degree in biology.
Sarah is the daughter of Mike and Sharon Plum. Her advisor is Chris Bauerle.
