Horton Man Sentenced on Felony Drug Charge
06/03/2014

(KNZA)-- A Horton man convicted of possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school has been placed on 36-months supervised probation.

Gabriel Whedbee was sentenced Monday in Brown County District Court on the felony charge.

Whedbee pleaded “ no contest” to the charge in May.  In exchange for the plea, two other drug charges were dismissed.

He had originally pleaded “ not guilty” to charges in the case, and a jury trial had been set for this month.

Meanwhile, the sentencing for a co-defendant in the case, Horton resident Glen Scotton, has been continued to June 23rd.

Scotton pleaded “ no contest” in March to a felony charge of possession of hydrocodone with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school.  In exchange for the plea, another drug charge was dismissed.

The two men were among five adults and one juvenile arrested last October following the execution of a search warrant on a residence in the 1000-block of Central Avenue in Horton.
