(KAIR)--An investigation into two gas drive off incidents in Atchison has lead to the arrest of an Atchison woman on unrelated charges.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, police received a report that a vehicle allegedly involved in the incidents had been spotted in the 1700 block of Chestnut Street just after 4:15 Thursday afternoon.
Upon arrival, officials determined the tag on the vehicle was stolen and attempted to take the driver, 28-year-old Melissa Pospisil, into custody.
Following what police say was a verbal confrontation initiated by Pospisis, she was arrested and transported to the Atchison County Jail where she faces one charge of possession of stolen property, one charge of disorderly conduct, and one charge of obstructing the legal process.
Pospisil made her first appearance Friday morning in an Atchison County Courtroom, where her bond was set at $2,500 cash. Her next appearance was set for June 16th.
Wilson says that Pospisil was not the person involved in the gas drive off incidents However, that suspect has been identified, and reports have been submitted to the County Attorney's office for review and the possible filing of formal charges.
