(KLZA)-- Firemen from the Falls City Volunteer and Falls City Rural Fire Departments responded to a house fire Friday afternoon at 5:09 p-m at 911 East 11th Street.
The rental home is owned by Bob Witt. Fire Chief Ken Simpson reported one couple, Craig and Jessica Hayes were moving out of the house and another couple, Dan and Candi Bledsoe were moving in. It appears trash had been placed on the back enclosed porch of the home and ignited.
The damage to the home was estimated at $10,000. There was quite a bit of smoke damage. The State Fire Marshall’s office was called but a Fire Marshall was not available until Saturday.
12 Falls City Volunteer Firemen, 10 member of the Rural Fire Department and one Verdon Fireman responded to the call.

Craig and Jessica Hayes live elsewhere in Falls City. Not at the house that had the fire on 11th street
