St. Joseph Council Votes to Amend Smoking Ban Rules
06/10/2014

(KNZA)--Two days after St. Joseph's city-wide smoking ban went into effect, city council members have voted to change the rules.

KQ2-TV reports Council members voted 8-1 Monday evening to amend part of the ordinance to change the distance smokers must be from a business entrance from 15 feet to five feet.  Deputy Mayor Pat Jones cast the only 'no' vote.

St. Joseph's smoking ban, passed by voters in April, went into effect on Saturday.

The ordinance bans smoking in all indoor public buildings including bars and restaurants except for the gaming floor of the St. Joseph Frontier Casino.
