(KLZA)-- John Albin, a native of Humboldt, has been selected by Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman to serve as acting Nebraska Commissioner of Labor.
Heineman announced Monday that Albin, General Counsel for the Department of Labor will replace Catherine Lang, who is leaving the position later this month to take a job in the private sector.
Albin is 60 years old and has worked at the Department of Labor for more than 24 years. He started as an administrative law judge in 1990, then joined the department’s legal division in 1993, becoming attorney general counsel in 2000.
Albin earned his law degree from the University of Nebraska in 1979. Prior to joining the Department of Labor Albin was in private practice.
In a news release from the Governor’s office Albin said “ I look forward to this new opportunity to serve the citizens of the state of Nebraska and build upon the success of Commissioners Lang at the Department of Labor.”
