Flood Warning Issued For Local Counties
06/18/2014

(KAIR)--The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for several local counties due to increasing water levels in the Missouri River.

The counties include Atchison, Leavenworth and Doniphan in Kansas, and Buchanan in Missouri.

The warning will be in effect from just after 2:00 Friday morning until just before 2:00PM next Friday, June 27th.

Several days of heavy rainfall across Nebraska and Iowa have resulted in the rising water levels all across the Missouri River.

A flood warning for the Missouri River at Rulo in southeast Nebraska also continues.

Residents are warned not to drive through flowing water. As little as six inches of water may cause you to lose control of your vehicle, and two feet of water can be enough to carry your vehicle away.
