(KLZA)-- No change in the bond for former Richardson County Deputy Sheriff Josh Nincehelser following a bond reduction hearing Monday morning in Richardson County Court.
On Friday, Richardson County Judge Curtis Maschman set bail at $50,000, which means $5,000 cash and included a requirement for a $45,000 surety bond. As of Monday afternoon, Nincehelser remained in the Richardson County Jail facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
The 25-year-old Nincehelser was arrested Friday, after allegedly admitting to the Nebraska State Patrol that he had shot himself in the arm while on duty June 9th. Nincehelser apparently lied after the incident, telling authorities he was shot by a man in a car with no license plates on a county road approximately a quarter mile off of Highway 75.
Richardson County Sheriff Randy Houser said he and his fellow officers are shocked and disappointed in the situation. He said Nincehelser had shown great promise and was coming along very well as an officer.
When asked if Nincehelser had provided any details on why he did this, Sheriff Houser said he could not go into it, but that he had talked with his former deputy quite a bit, noting that Nincehelser is facing a tremendous amount of difficulty in his future.
Nincehelser is being held on felony offenses of criminal mischief and use of a firearm to commit a felony. He also faces possible misdemeanor charges including obstructing government operations, false reporting and abuse of public records.
Arraignment is scheduled for July 14th at 2 p-m.
