Atchison Co Man Appears in Court on Arson Charge
06/25/2014

(KNZA)--A rural Atchison man made his first appearance in a Brown County courtroom Tuesday on a felony charge of arson.

Hiawatha Attorney Andy Delaney was appointed to represent 38-year-old Johnny Hogue and a preliminary hearing was set for July 2nd.

A judge also granted a request by Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill for a bond modification, setting his bond at $75,000 cash or surety.  Hogue’s bond had originally been set at $50,000.

He was arrested Monday evening in Potter after Sheriff John Merchant had asked for the public’s assistance earlier this month in locating him.

According to court documents, Hogue is accused of setting fire to a 1998 Chevy Camaro belonging to Michelle Koppa on March 4th.

Hogue remains in the Brown County Jail.
