Plea Agreement Reached in Fatal Pawnee Co Crash
06/27/2014

(KTNC)--Prosecutors have reached a plea agreement with a woman charged in a 2013 crash in Pawnee County that killed an Amish teen.

The Pawnee Republican reports that the trial for Vivian Cockrell that was scheduled to begin Wednesday was cancelled after the agreement was reached Monday afternoon.

Pawnee County Attorney Jennifer Stehlik-Ladman says Cockrell will plead guilty to motor vehicle homicide and violation of a learner’s permit, at a hearing scheduled for July 7. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Cockrell was charged after her car collided with an Amish buggy east of Pawnee City in July of last year. The crash resulted in the death of Ruben Yoder. His sister, Fannie Yoder, was seriously injured and spent several months recovering from her injuries.
