JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri utility regulators have scheduled eight public hearings on a proposed high-voltage power line across northern Missouri.
The Grain Belt Express project would carry power generated from wind turbines in Kansas eastward across Missouri and Illinois to a substation in Indiana. The 750-mile project is estimated to cost $2.2 billion.
The Missouri Public Service Commission is considering whether to grant a certificate for the transmission lines to be built and operated. Public hearings are scheduled in all eight counties that the power lines would cross—including Buchanan.
A hearing will be held in St. Joseph on August 5th at the American Legion Hall located at 4826 Frederick Avenue at 5 in the evening
