(KAIR)--An Atchison woman was arrested Tuesday morning on an Atchison County District Court warrant charging her with several drug related crimes that allegedly took place earlier this year.

According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, the warrant was issued after police conducted an investigation into 23-year-old Marissa Vanwey's activities during two separate dates in April and May of this year.

Wilson says that Vanwey allegedly conducted illegal drug transactions from an apartment located in the 300 block of Santa Fe Street. On April 10th, she allegedly facilitated the sale of hydrocodone, while on May 30th, she allegedly facilitated the sale of methamphetamine.

Vanwey is facing charges of distribution of a narcotic within 1,000 feet of a school and use of a telecommunication facility to facilitate a controlled substance transaction. A third charge of aggravated child endangerment was also added since a child was allegedly present during the events on May 30th.

Vanwey remains in the Atchison County Jail.
