07/09/2014

(KMZA )--Four Nebraska residents linked to a string of thefts from Marysville, Kansas businesses over the 4th of July holiday weekend are in custody.

The four were arrested Tuesday afternoon after the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department received a tip from an alert citizen who reported seeing a motor motor home parked in Linear Park in Manhattan similar to the involved in the Marysville thefts.  The citizen had watched a newscast about the thefts.

Sheriff Greg Riat says deputies located the motor home and confirmed it had been reported as stolen from Omaha.

One man was immediately taken into custody. After a search by deputies and the Riley County Police Department, three other people believed to be involved with the crime were found and taken into custody.

Arrested were Omaha residents 47-year-old Steven Gensler, 34-year-old Douglas Hetrick and 30-year-old Teresa Minard along with 55-year-old Springfield, Nebraska resident Denise Parks.

Riat says the four were taken into custody for possession of stolen property.  He says a search warrant was obtained for the motor home, and additional stolen property was located along with an unspecified quantity of illegal drugs.

Riat says additional charges are possible.  The four were booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail.

A pickup truck and trailer that had been stolen from Marysville were found Monday in the Tuttle Creek State Park near Manhattan.
