(KAIR)--Atchison County officials have been working on constructing a budget for 2015 for the past few weeks, and it appears as though significant progress is being made.
That, according to Commission Chair Jeff Schuele who adds that they are preparing to finish up initial budget requests from county departments in the next few days. The Commission will then start contacting departments if they have any further questions related to their request.
Schule says that sometimes, you can get a lot of initial budget requests that are just not feasible, especially in a one year time frame. When these requests are made, longer term planning may be needed. Schuele says this is done so that it does not have to be a burden on the taxpayers.
Schuele says the Commission's goal is to have the complete budget package ready to be voted on by the August 26th meeting.
