(KNZA)--Change is coming to the Muscotah post office, despite protests from the residents of the Atchison County Community.
The announcement of reduced hours came during a public meeting held Monday, with a Postal Service representative from DeSoto addressing the issue.
Despite concerns of a total shutdown, the 14 residents gathered for the session were informed that would not happen. Instead, the United State's Postal Service has decided to reduce hours of operation at the Muscotah Post Office from 6 to 2 hours daily.
A definite date for when that will happen is not determined, with residents told only that the new hours will go into effect sometime between now and January 10th of next year.
