Falls City School Board Approves Classified Employee Raise
07/15/2014

(KTNC)--The Falls City Board of Education approved a salary increase for the district’s classified employees Monday night.
The board had tabled action on the increase in June after board member Scott Hollens argued for a larger increase than the originally proposed 3.25-percent raise.
The motion approved Monday includes a 3.25-percent increase. It also increases the starting salary for para-educators from $8.50 to $9 per hour and evens the salaries of the head custodians at all four district school buildings.
Classified employees include para-educators, custodians, cooks, bus drivers, and secretaries. The Falls City School District employs approximately 70 classified employees, including several new para-educators for the upcoming school year.
The move will mean a change of about $68,000 to the district’s budget.
Heckenlively says they have begun building a preliminary budget for the next year. He says they know preliminary estimates, but will know more after property tax valuations are certified on August 20.
