(KMZA)--Ten cars of a Union Pacific freight train derailed early Tuesday morning in U.P’s rail yard in Marysville.
U.P Spokesman Mark Davis says the train with a total of eighty-one cars and two locomotives was headed from North Platte, Nebraska to North Little Rock, Arkansas when the derailment happened at 12:45.
Davis says none of the cars contained hazardous materials and no injuries were reported. He told the Marysville Advocate that eight of the derailed cars were empty, one was loaded with railroad rail and one with dirt.
Heavy equipment was brought in Tuesday morning to begin picking up the derailed cars.
Davis said trains were able to operate around the derailed cars.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
