Jefferson Co. Budget Approved for Publication
08/25/2014

(KNZA)--The Jefferson County Commission is proposing a 2015 budget that calls for 2.19 mill increase in the property tax levy.

The commission approved the budget for publication last week.

Commissioner Richard Malm attributed the mill levy increase to recent legislation that reduced the valuation of boats, commercial vehicles and commercial property in the county.

County department budgets were held to the 2014 level or below with allowances for an increase in health insurance premiums and an increase in the employer’s share of KPER’s.

The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing on September 3rd at 1 o’clock in the commission chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
