(KAIR)--A Leavenworth County non profit organization is one of twenty Kansas organizations to receive funding from a federal grant program designed to help in the fight against domestic violence.
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has awarded more than $1-million in grants for the 2015 Federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, or FVPSA grant program, with Leavenworth's Alliance Against Family Violence receiving approximately $31,000.
The FVPSA grants provide funds to domestic violence programs that ensure services are available 24 hours a day and are free to domestic violence victims and their children. Programs provide services such as sheltering victims, crisis intervention, advocacy in obtaining protection from abuse orders, and prevention education in schools and communities.
