(KNZA)--A 43-year-old Hiawatha man is facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says Lonnie Johansen has been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Johansen  made his first appearance in a Brown County courtroom on Monday.  A preliminary hearing was set for October 22nd and Troy attorney Bill McQuillan was appointed to represent him.

Johansen was arrested Friday and booked into the Brown County Jail.

Hill says the case was investigated by Hiawatha Police Department with assistance from the Heart of America Regional Forensic Computer Lab in Kansas City and his office.  He said the case involved the execution of numerous search warrants for digital evidence.

Hill said one alleged victim included a northeast Kansas child under the age of 14 along with the images of children from outside the area.

Johansen remains in the Brown County Jail on a half million dollars bond.
