(KTNC)--The Nemaha NRD Board of Directors acted on several items related to the Duck Creek project during last week's meeting.
The board authorized the manager to move ahead to incorporate dirt work for road improvements with the bidding process for the dam itself. The board made revisions to the land rights settlement with the major landowner on the project. The change reduced the area purchased by about two acres, but provided seven additional acres for mitigation.
The board also approved an agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission that would have Game and Parks provide half a million dollars in cost-share assistance for the in-lake, fisheries related recreation facilities.
In other business this month, Christy Hadden from the Schulz and Associates accounting firm of Beatrice reviewed the District's fiscal year 2014 audit report.
Hadden's report found that the NRD's financial standing was favorable, and no problems were uncovered in the report. The board will approve the report next month, after members have time to study it.
The NRD Board also approved a proposal from Beehive Industries to develop a database collection system that would track and record information about the watersheds and structures in the district.
The initial cost to set up the data and provide support, training, and updates, is $7,000, and the subsequent annual maintenacne cost is $3,600. The cost does not include the cost of the hardware required for employees to use the system in the field.
