(KNZA)--Voters in Prairie Hills USD 113 will decide the fate of a capital outlay tax levy when they go to the polls November 4th, and the school district has set three informational meeting to inform patrons about the special question.
The meetings will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30 at Axtell Public Schools, Wednesday evening at 7 at the Wetmore Academic Center and Thursday evening at 5:30 at the Sabetha Middle School.
Voters will decide if the school board should be authorized to make a continuous and permanent annual tax levy in an amount not to exceed 8 mills to fund the district’s capital outlay fund.
Provisions included in the new school finance bill passed by the Kansas Legislature this year give school boards greater flexibility regarding how capital outlay funds can be used.
The USD 113 Board voted to put the special question on the ballot after a valid protest petition was filed following the adoption of a capital outlay resolution in May.
