(KAIR)--With the arrival of the holiday season comes the opportunity for many families to take a trip to visit family and loved ones. However, Safe Kids Kansas is encouraging parents to take the proper precautions to ensure their trip is a safe one for their kids.
Director Cheri Sage says if you are traveling by car, make sure your kids are properly secured in the vehicle with a car seat or booster seat the is appropriate for your child's age or size.
Sage recommends that a car seat be used even if you are traveling by air. Parents should place the car seat securely into the airplane seat. She says this is the best way to protect a child from harm during any unexpected turbulence that may take place during the flight.
Parents should also make sure their kids are provided with a safe place to sleep during the trip. Sage says they should bring their own portable type crib, as many cribs provided by hotels and even those at the family home can be unsafe.
