USD 115 Board Discusses Bond Refinancing
12/12/2014

(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education is looking into the possibility of refinancing the bonds issued for the construction of the Elementary and Middle School.

Superintendent Darrel Kohlman presented information to the Board this week from Steve Shogren with George Baum and Associates about the possibility of refinancing the bonds on the building to take advantage of low interest rates.
Shogren will be invited to make a presentation to the board at their January regular meeting or the next date that's open to him.

In other business,  High School Activities Director Warren Seitz requested input on a policy regarding businesses advertising on school property such as gyms, baseball/softball fences and football field facilities. Seitz cited many different issues that should be considered in establishing the policy.  The board asked Seitz and the administrators to draft a document naming the locations available for advertising, specific needs for funding raised by such advertising and other recommendations to present to the board for future consideration.

CPA Jim Long with Karlin and Long presented the fiscal year 2014 independent audit report.  Long said there were no findings of noncompliance in the audit.

And the Board accepted a letter of resignation from high school music and band instructor Gene Barrett, effective at the end of the current school year.
