(KAIR)--Two Olathe men have pled guilty to operating a synthetic drug business shut down through an investigation that included law enforcement from the local area.
U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says 58-year-old Tracy Picanso and 56-year-old Roy Ehrett each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy, one count of producing and selling misbranded drugs, one count of producing and selling counterfeit drugs and one count of conspiracy to launder money.
Federal prosecutors claim the operation generated $16 million in sales in less than two years, with the operation stretching from Kansas to Missouri, California, Texas, Georgia and Colorado, involving more than 15 companies with more than 40 financial accounts at more than 10 financial institutions
Among the numerous law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation were the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force and the Saint Joseph Police Department.
Sentencing is set for April 13.
Both the prosecution and the defense have agreed to recommend a sentence between 7 and 15 years in federal prison.
