(KAIR)--Atchison city officials have announced that some minor changes will be made to the city's solid waste collection schedule in order to accommodate the new curbside recycling service.
First, residents who normally have their trash collected on Mondays, will now have it picked up on Wednesdays. The next scheduled pickup for them will be January 7th.
Second, the Westridge neighborhood, including Summerfield Court and Independence Court, which currently have their trash collected on Tuesdays, will now have it picked up on Fridays. Their next scheduled collection will be January 5th, which will be a holiday makeup for January 2nd.
City Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says these changes allow the city to transition some of their staff to a four day work week of ten hour days. He adds that they are also “trying to even out the number of pickups they have on a daily basis”.
The city has delivered door hangers to all those impacted by the change, and will also publish the changes via social media and the new CodeRed system.
