(KNZA)--A primary election will be needed to narrow the field of candidates for Elwood mayor, Elwood City Council and the Highland City Council.
Tuesday was the filing deadline for city and school board positions.
Four candidates are vying for the position of Elwood mayor, which is currently held by George Mitchell, Jr. who didn’t file for re-election. During the March 3rd primary election, the top two vote getters will advance to the April 7th general election ballot. The candidates include Sean Hawkins, Timmy Kieser Sr., Dennis Smith and Peggy Wood.
Eleven candidates are seeking three open positions on the Elwood City Council and during the primary election the field will be narrowed to six for the general election. The candidates include incumbents Carol Hall, Glenn Watson Sr. along with Travis Holcomb, Paula Hunsaker, Tina Kimberlin, Teresa Lamme, Samuel Meers, John Osborne, Dustin Robinson, William White and Ronald Young.
And eight candidates are vying for two open positions on the Highland City Council and during the primary election the top four vote getters will advance to the general election ballot. The candidates include incumbent Randy Snyder along with Dana Clary, Selena Diveley, Dennis Lentz, Matt Peterson, Rocky Ruhnke, Michael Stonebarger and Kevin Thompson.
