(KNZA)--A St. Joseph man has pleaded “not guilty” to charges stemming from a deadly double shooting in January at a residence north of Faucett.
KQ2-TV reports 34-year-old Daron Simpson entered the plea Thursday in Buchanan County Circuit Court to charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Simpson is charged in the January 24th shooting death of 36-year-old Andrew Clary, of Troy. He’s also accused of shooting his ex-wife, Amanda Simpson. She survived the shooting.
Authorities say Daron Simpson turned himself in shortly after the shootings.
He will be back in court on May 7.
Simpson remains in the Buchanan County Jail, held without bond.
