(KAIR)--A 31-year-old Perry man is jailed in Jefferson County, held on charges related to child sex crimes.
Jeremy Nolan Butler made his first appearance in a Jefferson County courtroom Wednesday and is now formally charged with one count of rape and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Detective Kirk Vernon says the investigation was launched after a Monday morning phone call was received regarding the alleged crimes. They apparently involve an under-aged teen, but no other details regarding the victim, including a connection with Butler, are immediately made public.
Butler turned himself into authorities Monday night.
He remains held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
