(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has accepted the resignation of County Road and Bridge Superintendent Matt Dorssom.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says Dorssom, who resigned in order to take a job with a local company, has been a county employee for approximately twenty years, and will be missed. The resignation will be effective April 7th.
Schuele says the Commission has already started the process of finding Dorssom's replacement, though the position may be changed a bit before that happens. He says “we are updating, or maybe going to change that role a little bit to align with possibly some true public works director type position, and road and bridge engineers that are around the state. That is kind of the trend that we have seen with that position. We've got aging infrastructure, we have a lot of projects to get going, so we will probably be updating that job description here within the next week, and probably getting that job posted around the state and region hopefully within the next week.”
Schule says that he expects the position to be filled sometime during the month of April.
