(KNZA)--A preliminary hearing for a rural Netawaka man facing multiple sex-related charges involving a minor child has been pushed back.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says the hearing for 35-year-old Scott Buchheit, which had been scheduled for Monday, was continued to April 14th or May 14th, depending on the outcome of an unrelated jury trial. Miller said Buchheit had initially requested a new attorney, but changed his mind.
Buchheit is charged with 16 felony counts—including five counts of rape.
He turned himself into Topeka Police in February after the Jackson County Sheriff’s office issued an alert for the public’s help in locating him.
Buchheit remains in the Jackson County Jail, held on $300,000 bond.
